Stories From the
Frontlines of Ministry
You may cry or you may laugh but the one thing you will not feel is indifferent to hurting teens and young adults. |
Hey God (6:35) |
|
“Hey God,” is a moving
compilation of many comments Jim has heard from
troubled young ladies. While this is presented
as one person, it is each phrase, each thought,
each emotion that has moved Jim so deeply over
his last thirty-five years as he has listened to
the stories of dozens of girls.

Hey God |
Back Pain and All (10:06) |
|
In this
story, you will learn how Father always gets us
just where He needs us most and what He can
accomplish when we each have open ears to hear.

Nobody Loves Us Jimbo (5:52) |
|
One
phrase Jimbo always hears from the kids is,
“Nobody loves us, Jimbo!” In this episode, a
young girl has a hard time believing that people
who never met her can love her until she learns
of a living example of that kind of sacrificial
love, which affected many of her fellow teens in
juvenile detention. |

“It Was You, Jimbo!” The Robert Anthony West Story (33:58) |
|
This is
a very special extended Story From the
Frontlines of Ministry. This story, which is so
close to Jim Warren’s heart, is presented in two
acts, which will not only cause you to think
hard about your life but may just cause tears to
run down your cheeks. |
"It Was You, Jimbo!" |
A Heart that Bleeds (5:16) |
|
Have
you ever experienced being helped by a person
with a professional attitude? Have you ever
wondered if they really care about you or are
you just another client? After working with
troubled teens and young adults for close to
thirty-five years, Jimbo discovers he still is
moved by the stories and needs of his “special
kids.” |

Hey! Are You Jimbo? (5:27) |
|
One
aspect of volunteering in the same juvenile
detention center for over twelve years Jimbo
really appreciates is how his stories are passed
down among bothers and sisters. Often when Jimbo
enters the center, many teens wonder who is this
strange old man. In this episode, you will hear
how stories past among siblings paid off big
time for many teens over a long time.

Mysterious Poem (3:46) |
|
Many
times when he speaks to a group of teens or
young adults outside of the juvenile detention
center, many of them and some adults surround
him once he has finished. In this episode, Jimbo
shares a strange situation from such a situation
that left him with words that continue to open
his heart to disconnected higher-risk teens and
young adults. |

I First Met Him in Juvenile Detention (5:21) |
|
In this episode, Jimbo shares
one of his greatest disappointments in his
almost thirty-five years of ministering to
disconnected higher-risk teens and young adults.
At the end of this young man’s story, Jimbo asks
the question, “When should I give up?” and then
answers that question for you. |

It Happened at a Funeral (5:09) |
|
Sometimes Father moves in our
lives in strange situations. One thing that
Jimbo has learned over the years is the
importance of planting seeds. If you listened to
“I First Met Him in Juvenile Detention,” you
heard the story of Jimbo’s greatest
disappointment yet his continued hope for young
people where it may look, at first, that he had
failed. In this episode, he shares with you one
of many situations that have brought him great
hope and encouragement. |

Unexpected Opportunity (6:24) |
|
It is so important to stay
open to surprise encounters as you live your
life as a disciple of Jesus. In this episode,
Jimbo shares what happened when such an
opportunity happened unexpectedly. You will also
learn what it means to struggle with the kind of
counting the cost questions Jesus asked those
who wanted to follow Him. |

Inside the Belly of A Fish (7:41) |
|
Have you ever found yourself
in the belly of a big fish? Probably not, but
maybe some tough situations you find yourself
facing are "belly of the fish" type lessons.
Jimbo shares how a young girl who found herself
in such a situation learned that the way out was
an understanding of a faith that produces
obedience to the Lordship of Jesus. |

We Met in a Coffee Shop (8:36) |
|
Another unexpected
opportunity popped up in Jimbo’s life. This one
was in a coffee shop. Find out what happens
after Jimbo builds a relationship with a young
man and eventually has the opportunity to
confront him with some “counting the cost”
questions. “We Met in a Coffee Shop” is the
title of this week’s Story From the Frontlines
of Ministry. |

DaMoose and the Pastor (39:02) |
|
This is
an extended Story From the Frontlines of
Ministry, which was featured in episode fourteen
of season one. This story took place over thirty
years ago, but the lessons it teaches about
authentic Christian ministry are timeless. It
was during this period that Jimbo's entire
perspective on Christian ministry took a drastic
180-degree change. This new direction took him
from the event/message ministry model of
cultural Christianity into the attitude of
Jesus. Through this story, you will learn about
the power of sacrificial invested ministry and
just how hard it is for those steeped in
cultural Christianity to grasp. |
