And Much, Much More!!!!!!!

Hey, Jimbo here. I want to welcome you to the official website for the Hello, Jimbo Speaking podcast and the Friday night live Diggin' Deeper into Jimbo's Head broadcast.

If you have listened to any of the podcast episodes, you know I try to mix up some serious teaching on the need to revitalize conventional Christianity with a lot of laughs and gags. If you watched or participated in any of the live Diggin’ Deeper broadcasts, you know even though we get very serious, we have fun amid the radical and controversial teachings.

One of the favorite segments of the podcast is the Stories From the Frontlines of Ministry. I have taken these from real-life situations Father has allowed me to be involved in with teens and young adults who seem to fall through the cracks. These not only give you a look into the lives of some hurting young people but are my way of sharing my heart with you. You can listen to them on this website as they are released by clicking “Stories From the Frontlines of Ministry” at the bottom of each page.

Then there is the Inside Jimbo’s Head segment. Yes, as you know, it is a scary, often controversial place to enter. However, I hope each episode challenges you not only to think but to seek Father through His Word and prayer concerning changes in your perspective and lifestyle. I pray you will evaluate what it means to be an authentic disciple of Jesus living in community and communion with each person of the Trinity. It is also my prayer that this will lead you into communities of communion with your fellow disciples. You can find transcripts of the Inside Jimbo’s Head segments on the episode page, along with a video of the Diggin’ Deeper live broadcasts.

The Diggin’ Deeper broadcast’s purpose is to allow you to ask your questions from each podcast and deepen your insight into the issue discussed. I am honored and thankful to have two hosts who join me each week, Dr. James Randolph and Joel Heim. Joel is a newcomer to the team and joined us on episode #10. You can read about both Joel and James on the Behind the Scenes page. Together we like to call ourselves the J3 Team (pronounced “J Cubed Team”).

On this website, you will also be able to sign up for the “Hello, Jimbo Speaking Podcast Newsletter,” which I will send to you periodically or a weekly preview of each episode before its release. You can also contact me with questions or comments by clicking the words “Contact Us” at the bottom of each page.

One special request is that you please consider donating directly to the Robert Anthony West Memorial Fund, supporting my direct costs when discipling/coaching the teens and young adults. I connect with these young people through my ministry at the local juvenile detention center or through other community referrals.

Oh, and don’t forget the “Behind the Scenes” page where you can keep up on special news and notes not available anywhere else, as well as read about the people behind the voices you hear on the podcast and my co-hosts on the live broadcast.

In the first episode, I lay out a convincing argument that the West’s church is in deep trouble. Something has to change, and the change must start with you and me making radical changes in both our vertical and horizontal relationships.

Thanks for coming to the Hello, Jimbo Speaking Podcast and the Diggin’ Deeper website. I hope you have fun browsing through the pages. However, I also pray you will find the life Father has called you to live. Yet not one lived by the premises of your native culture, but the culture of the kingdom established by Messiah Jesus. May this lead you into an authentic Christian life as a disciple of Jesus living in community and communion with God and other fellow disciples.

The theme of each series and the focus of each episode is to fulfill our purpose statement. I know, if you have heard it before, you are very aware it is a mouthful. However, its bottom line is the revitalization of conventional Christianity. Below you will find the full purpose statement with an explanation of each part. But please, don’t let it scare you away.

Purpose Statement

The Radical Redirection of Relational Realities Required for the Revitalization of Conventional Christianity, Its Citizens, and Communities—One Person at a Time.

Explanation

Radical Redirection:

The directing of something to a new or different place by affecting its fundamental nature in a far-reaching and thorough way.

Relational Realities:

In John chapter 17, we learn Jesus’ desire is for his followers to be one with Him and Father, and in them as they are in and one with each other.

He also prayed that we would be one with each other. In other words, we are invited to participate in the relationship that Father, His Son, and the Holy Spirit have with one another. This can best be defined as Community and Communion.

Community and Communion: Community stays a mystery to Western people, especially Americans, because of our focus on individuality. We see ourselves as individuals who gather for a purpose while first focusing on our protection, care, and sustainability.
In an authentic community, individuals see themselves as members of a community, and their purpose is the protection, care, and sustainability of the community, i.e., the other individuals.

This sense of community is best exemplified by Jesus’ plea that we be one with Him and Father as they are in each other. The Biblical understanding of being one is to be indistinguishable and inseparable from another. This understanding is in opposition to being divided into parts and being many.

The Biblical understanding of being in someone means to be wholly joined in such a way that the one you are “in” is the place where you live and move. That person is also the one to whom your power and influence are subject.

To be in communion with someone is to share one’s intimate thoughts or feelings with others, especially on a spiritual level. It is to feel in close spiritual contact with others. The word communion best exemplifies what Jesus prayed for us in our relationship with God and each other.

The scriptures call all disciples to live in these relational realities with Father, His Son, and the Holy Spirit. This communion with the persons of the Trinity will then flow into our lives, driving us to form communities of communion with each other.

Required:

Officially compulsory, or otherwise considered essential; indispensable.

Revitalization:

The action of imbuing something with new life and vitality.

Conventional Christianity:

Conventional Christianity is what we see, for the most part, all around us. It is, from a Biblical perspective, ineffectual and impotent.

This is caused when the church tries to be relevant to the surrounding culture. However, a negative sense of relevancy happens when the church allows the standards and practices of their native culture to seep into its psyche, ministry, and way of life in community.

When this happens, the native culture replaces the standards and practices of the Biblically-based cultural standards and practices of kingdom Christianity.

Citizens and Communities:

A citizen is a person who was born into a particular country (kingdom) and has been given certain rights and responsibilities because they belong to that country (kingdom). For communities, see the above definition.

One Person at a Time:

At one time, someone once asked the British evangelist Gipsy Smith how to start a revival.

He replied, “If you want to start a revival, go home and get a piece of chalk. Go inside your closet and draw a circle on the floor. Kneel down in the middle of the circle and ask God to start a revival inside the chalk mark. When He has answered your prayer, the revival has begun.”

Revival and Revitalization should be seen as interchangeable words. However, some who practice conventional Christianity have reserved revival for people outside of Christ, responding to the gospel message. However, you can only revive what was once alive. Thus the revival in the circle story makes great sense.
